Where will you travel this summer? Books can take you anywhere! This year we are encouraging students to participate in the Maricopa County Reads summer program. There's something for everyone- you can earn points, unlock badges and win prizes from your local library. Bring in a copy of your reading log when you come back to school (no later than August 12th) and you'll also receive a special reward from ASU Prep! As a way to celebrate our summer reading, we're asking you to catch your child reading and send pictures to [email protected] for our Summer Share. Send in pictures of your child reading on vacation, at the library, in unique places and interesting ways. Send as many photos as you'd like, as often as you'd like. We'll post your pictures on a bulletin board for all to see in August.

On Tuesday, May 17th we will conduct a school-wide evacuation and family reunification drill. This is only a drill; however, in the event of an actual emergency (water main break, airplane engine dropping out of the sky, emergency issues at the hotel or Chevron) this is the procedure that will be followed.
WHAT IS A PARENT-CHILD REUNIFICATION? A PCR is a safe, orderly and efficient process of reuniting children with their parents/guardians in the event of an emergency evacuation or school closing. If an emergency/crisis occurs, which prohibits the normal dismissal process from occurring, a PCR would be ordered. If this happens, parents/guardians would be notified via the ASU Prep Emergency Text Alert System. Parents/guardians would reunite with their children at our ASU Emergency Evacuation Site, just south of Sun Devil Fitness Complex. (7400 E Texas Ave, Mesa, AZ 85212) *** We will be evacuating our STEM PK-8 building and walking all students to our predetermined reunification site mentioned above. ALL parents will need to pick their students up at the reunification site on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 17 at the normal 3:15pm dismissal time. PROCEDURES: 1. Do not go to the regular driveline pick up line. 2. Follow the signs: From Williams Field Road, take the traffic circle north to Innovation Way North. Turn right at Innovation Way North. Continue to the stop sign. Turn right at Innovation Way East. Take the first right at Texas Road. (At the Cholla Baseball Field) Follow Texas Road west until you are at the pick up area. 3. Do not get out of your car! 4. Have your driveline number visible for the Release Point Team. 5. All drivers will need to sign for the students who they are transporting in their vehicle. 6. After pick up, continue south on Utah Ave. Turn right on Innovation Way South and continue to your home location. *** WALKERS: 5-8th grade students that typically walk off campus at dismissal and currently have a signed Walker Waiver on file will be allowed to walk from the ASU Emergency Evacuation Site to their family's predesignated location after given proper permission by their Foundations Teacher. *** Afternoon Club Poly Students: Afternoon Club Poly students will need to be picked up at dismissal time otherwise they will remain at SDFC until pick-up. The school will be closed. *** All afternoon activities will be cancelled on this day, including Homework Club. Our 3/4 Summative is quickly approaching! We are in need of some help next week. If you are interested in volunteering, please email me with days and times you are available. Thank you very much!
