Can you believe the last day of school is approaching so quickly?! Our last day of school, May 30th, will be a half day. Students will be released at 12:15.
What a night!
We are so proud of all our students and parents that came to the camp last night. It was truly a night that will be remembered. Not only were our students (and parents) able to learn about desert animals and their adaptations, but it fit perfectly with what they are currently learning about in project group! Thank you for joining us and we hope you get a better night's sleep tonight! Here is a link to just a couple of photos from last night... http://mtomasikasuprep.weebly.com/1/post/2014/04/phoenix-zoo-night-camp.html We are just about a week away from our overnight camp at the zoo! Here are a few reminders:
- Camp begins on April 22 with dinner at 6:15pm. Please arrive early to check in and receive your name tag! We will meet in front of the zoo. - Camp ends on April 23 at 9:00am. Parents - all students MUST be picked up at this time in front of the zoo entrance. - Campers must be able to carry all of their supplies on their own. - Night Camp participants may enjoy the Zoo for the rest of the day at no extra charge. Family members who wish to join participants must pay regular entrance fees to the Zoo. Packing List Clothes: The Phoenix Zoo is in a “cold zone” and the temperature tends to be 5 to 10 degrees cooler than the city surrounding it. Close-toed Shoes Underclothing Socks Pants/shorts Shirt Pajamas Jacket, Hat Camp bedding: All indoor/covered camp site sleeping locations have concrete floors or utility carpet. We highly suggest that you pack a sleeping pad to ensure a comfy night of sleep. If you do not have a sleeping pad, you may want to bring an extra blanket to put under your sleeping bag. Pillow Sleeping Bag and/or Blanket Sleeping Pad or Extra Blanket Toiletries: Paper towels are not available in all Zoo restrooms. Bring a washcloth if you would like to wash your face in the morning. Toothbrush/Toothpaste Hairbrush Washcloth Miscellaneous: These items are not necessities but may be brought to Night Camp. Camera - Cameras are not allowed on the night hikes but are allowed during other portions of the camp. Insect Repellent - You will be spending a lot of your evening outside. During certain times of the year, you may want to consider applying insect repellent. Sunscreen - Don’t forget sunscreen if you are planning on spending the day at the Zoo after your Night Camp. Flashlight - Flashlights are not allowed on hikes around the Zoo but can be used once you are at the camp site. Do NOT Bring to Camp: x Outside food or beverages (other than water) are not allowed. (Food brought to the campsites attracts unwanted critters to your sleeping space.) x Laser pointers, radios, music players, and game systems are not allowed. x Air mattresses are not allowed. We are encouraging students to bring in peppermint gum or peppermints during testing. I will be collecting these items and handing them out to students prior to each day of testing. Thank you for your support!
Aims testing begins on Tuesday, April 8th. Only fourth grade students will be taking science AIMS. On Wednesday, April 9th all students will be taking reading and math AIMS. Tuesday, April 15 all students will take part 2 of reading and math AIMS. Wednesday, April 16 all students will take part 3 of reading and math AIMS. |
